My career started in recruitment many moons ago and my idealism had always been that of fighting for the underdog. I have never been a public figure but after my 3yrs stint in Durban and Cape Town I returned to my community invigorated by my need to change the lives of the youth in my immediate surroundings.
In January of 2011 I hosted the first career expo in Eldorado Park. We reached 1600 youngsters which was a first in this community, my sisters and I started a skills development centre that focused on different skill sets that proved to effectively divert our youth from the streets into effective and essential trades.
In 2011 I did my 1st radio interview and was naturally drawn into addressing the social and economic issues that our community faced. I hosted a show called Real talk on our community radio station for 18-months and this really opened my eyes to the plight of the people and this was the impetus that I needed to become fully entrenched in my community. I became one of the 1st members of the local drug action committee LDAC
I was Locally elected onto the sports council as Spokesperson for the entity 2012. I played an intricate part in the Establishment of Business forum 2013 within Eldorado Park and became the spokesperson for business forum in 2015.
2017 Part of the team that spearheaded major initiatives and action that changed the socio-economic landscape of the community, formed part of the committee that arranged the implementation of housing registrations with the Department of Human Settlements. The negotiations team with the city of Jhb and City Power for the Labour issues at the power station development in Eldorado Park
I Dealt with the appoint of the Principal Klipspruit West Secondary. Through my work within the community, I got quite Involved with the fight against the Union's attempt to derail education in Eldorado Park and surrounding areas… Behind the scenes, In March of 2011, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was part of the team who arranged the 1 st CANSA Relay for Life in a historically disadvantaged community and managed to also create awareness around cancer.
In 2015, I was diagnosed with Spinal cancer, and I continued to find the strength to fight cancer.
In September 2018, I rejoined Eldos FM to host my own show called Let's Talk About It, allowing me to use my radio show as an avenue to create awareness around the disease. My radio show allows the community to be informed about aspects that impact on them directly and it also brings information that is relevant regarding all community happenings.
Today, I continue to strive to make a difference within The Greater Eldorado Park
